147 drug inspectors are to be appointed by CDSCO to ensure quality of drugs to global standards. A senior official informed the process has already started. The central government of India has allocated INR 900 crore and a total of 1195 posts have been sanctioned in the 12th five year plan to enhance manpower and improve minilabs, mobile labs to par with CDSCO.

The drugs are being supplied to over 200 countries from India and ensure the quality CDSCO has conducted 17 training programmes for the drug inspectors. The drug inspectors have been deputed as observers with international regulators to perform joint inspections. The workshops held in four cities of India earlier this year organized by the cooperation of US FDA and CDSCO has been well received where 60 companies participated. CDSCO is involved in the registration of medical devices in India.
